NOTES FOR
CONTRIBUTORS
TYPESCRIPTS
Submission of a paper to this
journal will be taken to imply that it represents original work not previously published,
that it is not being considered elsewhere for publication,
and that if accepted for publication it will not be published elsewhere in the
same form, in any language, without the consent of editor and publisher. It is
a condition of the acceptance by the editor of a typescript for publication
that the publishers acquire automatically the copyright in the typescript
throughout the world. Length: The maximum length is 10,000 words (5,000
preferred). Short communications will be accepted and should be identified as
such.
Paper should be ORGANIZED in two
columns
Style: It is helpful for clarity and
readability for authors to adopt a standard format in presentation of material,
under such headings as ABSTRACT, INTRODUCTION, EXPERIMENTAL, RESULTS, CONCLUSIONS and REFERENCES.
Language: English language is preferred, but
French papers will be accepted if an English summary of approximately 300 words
is also supplied.
Abstract: Each paper requires an abstract of 100-150
words summarizing the significant coverage and findings. Non-English papers
should have a similar abstract in the original language, but also must contain
the rather longer (approximately 300 words) abstract in English. Short
communications in English do not require an abstract, but those in other
languages should be accompanied by an English summary.
FIGURES
All figures should be numbered with
consecutive Arabic numbers, have descriptive captions, and be mentioned in the
text.
EQUATIONS AND FORMULAE (MATHEMATICAL)
Wherever possible, mathematical equations
should be typewritten, with subscripts and superscripts clearly shown. It is
helpful to identify unusual or ambiguous symbols in the margin when they first
occur. To simplify typesetting, please use (1) the "exp" form of
complex exponential functions, (2) fractional exponents instead of root signs;
and (3) the solidus (/) to simplify fractions - e.g. exp x 1/2. Marking: The
printer will set mathematical symbols in italics, except for obvious groups
like sin and log. Any symbols which are to be left in roman (ordinary) type
should be encircled in pencil in the typescript; bold symbols should be
underlined with a wavy line.
TABLES
Number tables consecutively with Arabic
numerals and give each a clear descriptive caption at the top. Avoid the use of
vertical rules in tables. Where possible, tables should be presented in
camera-ready form.
UNITS
Metric units are preferred. If others are
used, they should conform to standard practice. Acceptable abbreviations of
units are given in the Style Manual of the American Institute of Physics and
similar publications.
REFERENCES AND NOTES
References and notes are indicated in the
text by consecutive superior Arabic numbers (without parentheses). The full
list should be collected and typed at the end of the paper in numerical order.
Listed references should be complete in all details including, in quotation
marks, article titles in journals. Authors' initials should precede their
names; journal title abbreviations should conform to Inspect (Physics
Abstracts, etc.) practice. Examples: [1] P. E. Dodd, "
Charge Collection and SEU from Angled Ion Strikes", IEEE Trans. Nucl. Sci. 44, 2256, (1997)
[1] R. Koga "
Single-Event Effect Ground Test Issues", IEEE Trans. Nucl. Sci. 43, 670 (1996).
TEXT HEADINGS
Set first-level headings in the text over
to the left, typed all in capitals (upper-case); begin the text on the
following line. Second-level headings should be typed in small (lower-case)
letters but with all main words capitalized; underline the heading and start
the text on the next line. For third-level headings, only the first letter
should be a capital; underline, then run on the text after three typewriter
spaces.

PROOFS
Authors will receive page proofs
(including figures) by airmail for correction, which must be returned to the
printer within 48 hours of receipt. Please ensure that a full postal address is
given on the first page of the manuscript, so that proofs are not delayed in
the post.
